| Gamber Board of Director Chrissy Yingling was honored with membership in the Carroll County Volunteer Emergency Services Association (CCVESA) Hall of Fame for 2025-26 on Monday evening at the fire company's May general meeting.
CCVESA President Jeff Fleming and Hall of Fame Chairperson, Marianne Warehime, made the surprise presentation. Chrissy's family joined her during the event.
Chrissy has been a steady presence at Gamber since joining in September of 1991. She currently has 32 years of active service to our company earning her life active membership status.
She has been active in the various facets (both operational and administrative) of our company. She currently maintains an Emergency Medical Technician – Basic Life Support license from the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services (MIEMSS).
Over the years, Chrissy has served on many committees as a member and some as its chair. Primarily, she has served as the chair of our juniors committee for an extended amount of time. She has taken on the role of unofficial mentor to many of our younger members as they develop their interest in the volunteer fire service.
At the county level, she has taken charge of the junior committee. This a role she has served in for about twenty years. The county junior program has recently expanded to include two “Junior Day” activities bringing together youth from across the county to demonstrate skills necessary in the fire service. The first delivery of the second junior day included the attendance of over 100+ juniors.
In 2022, the Gamber & Community Fire Company suffered the tragic and sudden loss of Michael Sullivan. Mike was the chair of our bingo committee and served this role for decades. When the moment called for it, Chrissy stepped up to fill this integral role to our company. She learned the management end of our most important fundraiser on short notice and without mentorship from her predecessor.
Chrissy currently serves as an elected Board of Director member. She also previously served many years as recording secretary. She is also currently a member of the fire company's scholarship committee.
Congratulations from the members and officers of the Gamber & Community Fire Company for this outstanding honor! |
