CCVESA and Gamber & Community Fire Co. are honored to announce that EST students (Emergency Services Training Program) Trista Christiansen and Christian Often won the Gold Medal Saturday evening, showcasing their EMT skills. They participated in this skills competition on Saturday, April 18, at the Carroll County Career and Technology Center(CCCTC). Their event was one part of Skills USA statewide competition for high school students. Both participants are members of the fire company.

They now head to Atlanta, Georgia, for Nationals in June. They competed against six other teams on Saturday.

They were students of Instructor Ruby, Instructor Hohl, Instructor Warehime and Support Instructor Mott.

CCVESA 2nd Vice President Susan Mott and Training Center Coordinator, Debbie Gartrell-Kemp, were in attendance with family and friends at the awards ceremony.

Congratulations, Christian and Trista, we are very proud of you both for representing CCVESA and Gamber at this event.

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) skills competition evaluates knowledge and skills required for competent practice within the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) field. The event simulates situations encountered by emergency medical professionals that include either a medical or trauma clinical scenario. Each scenario requires the use of critical thinking skills, communication, and demonstration of professionalism.
