Gamber & Community Fire Co. firefighters and neighboring units were alerted for a structure fire at approximately 12:50 pm on Sunday, October 13. The incident occurred at a house on Pouder Road off of Cherry Tree Lane in Sykesville.

Carroll County Battalion Chief 3, Sykesville's Chief 12-2 (Polikoff) assumed command and advised a fire in the back bedroom of a ranch-style home.

Gamber Engine 134 arrived and set up in the driveway in front of the structure. Crews stretched an attack line to the rear of the house and entered through a door on the rear deck. Sykesville Engine 124 laid 1,200 feet of supply line from the intersection of Poole Road to the scene while its crew assisted on the fire attack. The fire was extinguished quickly before it extended to the rest of the structure and the supply line was not needed. Sykesville's firefighters on Tower 12 assisted with overhauling and smoke removal. Sykesville's two medic units assisted on the scene with firefighter rehab. and monitoring.

Chief 13, Chad Hastings, reported that the fire was contained to the rear bedroom and that there was heat and smoke damage through the house.

A deputy from the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal was on the scene investigating.

Reese's Engine Tanker 94 filled in at the Gamber station.
