September 9, 2023

Units from Gamber & Community Fire Co. responded to reports of a house fire in the 4100 block of Louisville Road in Finksburg. The call was dispatched at 4:15 pm on Saturday during a severe thunderstorm warning in Carroll County.

Also alerted on the call were Reese, Baltimore County units, Sykesville, and staff from CCDFEMS. Chief 13, Hastings, responded in Duty 13 and requested additional tankers since this area has no hydrants. Additional tankers from Winfield, Hampstead, and Baltimore County also responded.

The incident was upgraded to a working dwelling fire on a common driveway off of Louisville Rd. The chief requested a working fire dispatch and a RID Rapid Intervention Dispatch to bring additional units.

Crews reported a working fire with flames coming from the garage and roof area. Firefighters advanced hand lines into the structure and knocked the fire down quickly. After that, firefighters worked to extinguish the remaining fire and conduct overhaul. The Office of the State Fire Marshal was alerted to determine the origin and cause of the fire.

Residents were not home initially but a dog was rescued from the house. It was administered oxygen by EMS staff on the scene.

Engine 851 from Upperco filled in the Gamber station.
