June 6, 2023

The Carroll County Volunteer Emergency Services Association (CCVESA) has inducted Charles "Charlie" D. Green Jr. into the Hall of Fame. Charlie has been a long-time volunteer of the Gamber & Community Fire Company (GCFC). He first started volunteering with Gamber in 1991 when he joined as a Junior Member. Over the years Charlie attended a vast amount of training ranging from Swift Water Rescue, Fire Officers I - IV, Instructor I & II, Incident Safety Officer, and numerous seminars on previous incidents.

Since first joining Gamber, Charlie has served in numerous leadership roles including Chief (2008-2014, 2017-2022), Board of Directors Member (2006-2007, 2023 - Current), and as chair of various committees within the company. Charlie is the man in charge of many popular community events/fundraisers including our annual carnival, gun bingo, and sportmans raffle.

In addition to being named into the Carroll County Hall of Fame, Charlie has also received recognition over the years including:
- Firefighter of the Year
- EMS Provider of the Year
- Fundraiser of the Year
- Administrator of the Year
- A meritorious service award for responding to the terrorist attacks in New York City on September 11th, 2001

Charlie has frequently been awarded for being a top fire and EMS responder at Gamber over his 31 years of volunteer service.

The Board of Directors and Members of the Gamber & Community Fire Company congratulate Former Chief Charlie Green on this lifetime achievement!
