Gamber Members Recognized by Carroll County Sheriff

Five members of the Gamber & Community Fire Co. were recognized by the Carroll County Sheriffs Office on March 26, 2025.

Awards were presented by Carroll County Sheriff James T. Dewees during the Sheriff’s Office Graduation and Awards Ceremony at the Carroll County Sheriff's Training Center at the Coppermine Panther Plex (old North Carroll High School).

Along with three members of the Sykesville Freedom District Fire Department (Company 12), the honorees were recognized for locating a missing elderly man on December 15, 2024. The search was dispatched for the missing citizen in the vicinity of Poole Road and Pouder Road off Cherry Tree Lane in a heavily wooded area bordering the Liberty Reservoir watershed.

Due to extreme weather conditions and rough terrain, the search was challenging. The victim was finally located and carried to Ambulance 139 for transport to the hospital.

The Gamber members were Captain Mike Green, EMS Lt. Jack Bez, Nick Blizzard, Wyatt Frederick, and Anthony Hypes.The Sykesville members were Patrick Facto, Justin Nelson, and Corey Newton.
