Gamber & Community Fire Co. member and firefighter, Jacob Reardon, completed his Eagle Scout project in August 2024. He passed his Board of Review in September to earn the Eagle rank. He is a member of Troop 735 based out of Finksburg at Calvary United Methodist Church.

Jacob has been a member of the Fire Company since October 2023, and he recently completed Firefighter 1 training. He is currently enrolled in Hazardous Materials Operations class through the Maryland Fire & Rescue Institute at the University Of Maryland.

Jacob’s project included the installation of signs in and around the Liberty Reservoir watershed in Gamber’s district. These new signs mark the entrances to trails and access roads and they correspond to the Carroll County 911 Center’s maps. The new signage should assist responding fire, EMS, water rescue, and police units in gaining access to the watershed in the event of an emergency.

Signs were donated by Shannon Baum Signs of Eldersburg, MD. Jacob was assisted by his parents, his older brother, and two additional scouts from his troop. His parents, Anne and Michael, are both members of the fire company. Gamber Assistant Chiefs Charlie Green and Shawn Chenoweth provided suggestions and support for the Eagle Project.

Jacob is home-schooled by his family and is in his junior year of high school. He plans on continuing his education at Carroll Community College and the University of Maryland.

The fire company's officers and members are pleased to congratulate Jacob for this outstanding achievement!
