Gamber & Community Fire Co. member Charles (Chuck) Doyle, Jr. was recently inducted into the Carroll County Volunteer Emergency Services Association Hall of Fame. His induction was conducted at Gamber's company meeting on Monday, May 20, 2024. He was recognized by CCVESA's 2023 Secretary, Marianne Warehime, and 2024 1st Vice President, Jeff Fleming.

Chuck joined Gamber in January 1981. He got right to work and became an active member after a year. Chuck has earned his Life Member Status and has continued to be an important part of the fire company's operations. He has served on the Board of Directors in the capacities of Second Vice President, Board Member-at-Large, and currently as Sergeant-at-Arms. Chuck also served as an EMS officer for many years. He is currently the Chief Engineer with the responsibility of maintaining all apparatus, vehicles, and equipment. He answers many calls for issues with apparatus and equipment at all times of day and night.

Chuck participates in all of our fundraisers. He can be seen mashing potatoes for suppers, flipping funnel cakes at carnival, and working in the kitchen at our breakfasts.

Chuck was awarded Gamber's "Gerald L. Lindsay Firefighter of the Year Award" in 1982, 1986, and 1997. He also was recognized as EMS Provider of the year in 1993 and 2002. Chuck appears in the Top Ten Suppression Responses almost every year and Top Ten EMS Responses in past years. On July 31, 2009 there was a tornado in Gamber’s first due area. Chuck received the Fire Chief’s Unit Citation for the hours of hard work he provided to our community during trying times.

Chuck’s formal training includes:
Basic Fire
Basic Rescue

Chuck has extended his dedication for the community to the county level. For many years, he was an integral part of the annual county pump test committee. He has spent endless days working with all fourteen fire companies ensuring that their engines, tankers, and other apparatus meet the proper standards for operation and safety. This was a challenging task to make a schedule that accommodated all Carroll County fire companies. He took this task very seriously and showed great pride in his work.

Chuck has been married to his wife Susan for over 40 years and they have one daughter, Dotty. The Doyle’s are a close knit family who are very involved in all aspects of their community. They are also very involved in their local church with Chuck serving Council President and member. Chuck and Susan love cruises and go on them multiple times a year.

The Board of Directors, officers, and members of the fire company are proud to acknowledge Chuck's induction into the CCVESA Hall of Fame. Congratulations Chuck!
