Gamber Assists Sykesville with Working House Fire

Gamber and Community Fire Co. units were alerted to assist Sykesville Freedom District Fire Department with a reported house fire in the 5400 block of Mineral Hill Road in Eldersburg, Wednesday evening, August 23 at approximately 9:05 pm.

Chief 12, Ed Ruch, Jr., arrived on the scene and reported a well-involved dwelling fire. He advised responding crews to establish an exterior attack.

Gamber units included Engines 131 and 134, and Medic 139. Additionally, Gamber Brush 136 responded to assist in extinguishing a brush and woods fire behind the residence that was a result of the house fire. The last Gamber engine cleared the scene and returned to the station at 1:24 am.

Volunteer and career firefighters from Carroll County Department of Fire and EMS (CCDFEMS) and mutual aid units from Baltimore and Howard counties responded to the incident.

The fire was brought under control after approximately 45 minutes. Units remained on the scene for overhaul and mop-up. It was reported that one firefighter was transported to Carroll Hospital Center for treatment of a minor injury.

The occupants of the home are being assisted by the American Red Cross and family members. The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.

Engine 56 from Baltimore County Station 56 (Franklin) filled in at the Gamber station.
