New Utility Vehicle Inservice

By Public Information Officer Clay Myers
May 10, 2020

A new utility vehicle has been purchased by the fire company. It was officially placed in service on Thursday, May 28, 2020. It will be identified as Utility 13-1.

This purchase was voted on by the fire company membership back in 2019 and the vehicle was delivered at the end of February 2020. The new truck is a 2020 Ford F-350, 4-wheel drive pickup with a crew cab and a short pick-up bed. It is powered by a gas engine and an automatic transmission. Members of the fire company and the apparatus committee are taking responsibility for customizing the truck to meet the company’s requirements.

A cap has been placed on the bed and a snowplow frame has been mounted. Radios have been installed as well as lights and siren. Instead of a custom paint job, the apparatus committee proposed to have the entire vehicle wrapped with the company colors of white over red. Lettering and badging were also done as part of the wrap. The unit will be used primarily as a medical support/first responder piece to backup the ambulance or to respond to medical emergencies if the ambulance is on another call.

The apparatus committee is under the leadership of Chief Charlie Green and Chief Engineer Chuck Doyle.

The new Ford F350 will be replacing Life Support (LS) 13, a 2001 Chevy Suburban 2500 4x4 with a 6.0L gas engine.
