Gamber & Community Fire Company participated in a media event with Firehouse Subs on Wednesday October 14th. The media event was to honor Maryland recipients of the 2015 grants from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. Gamber was awarded $3548 to purchase 10 year long-life sealed lithium battery smoke alarms.
Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation is dedicated to impacting lifesaving capabilities and the lives of local heroes and their communities.
Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation was established in 2005 due to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Co-founders Chris and Robin Sorenson traveled to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where they fed first responders and survivors. As they traveled back to Florida exhausted and exhilarated, they knew they could do more and created the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
The foundation has donated more than $130 million in 43 states, including more than $107 thousand in Maryland.
Other award recipients were: Junior Fire Company of Frederick County and Sykesville Fire Department of Carroll County for a new Lucas machine to improve CPR capabilities during a cardiac arrest event.
A special thank you goes out to the Westminster Firehouse Subs and owner Dexter White for the smoke alarms that were received as our community we serve will greatly benefit with these life saving devices.
We will be using the alarms to continue our Smoke Alarm Canvas Program in the Peach Mill Estates and more. |
